South Lanarkshire High School Receives COSLA Excellence Award
Published 14 April 2009The school promoted sustainability through the 'Learning for our Future' programme and effectively achieved current National Priorities in Education through the involvement of children, young people and staff in addressing a variety of issues using ecological footprint methodology.
Trinity High School undertook an ecological footprint project to address issues of waste, energy, water, transport, food and buildings.
Peter Bollen, the head teacher at Trinity High School, said: "Once it was understood and made clear that decisions about the school environment affected the pupils and their learning, there was no stopping them. Youngsters do care about the world around them and worry about the future of our planet and we as teachers have to help them find ways to curb this."
